Ahead of their upcoming Sunday Serie A match Lazio together with AC Milan will attempt to recover their seasonal momentum due to their inactive streak of three consecutive matches.

The qualifying spots for Champions League next season leave the top-four contenders with too much work to do so both teams must avoid losing points at San Siro.

Milan played out a crucial rematch from their postponed match which occurred four months back against Bologna at Dall'Ara stadion where both teams entered the night on level ground.

The Rossoneri focused on a turnaround following their 2-1 season loss to Torino last weekend since they had already exited the Champions League.

Bologna defeated Milan in Serie A for the first time in nine years by scoring two goals during second half play after Rafael Leao gave his team an initial lead.

Sergio Conceicao's Tottenham Hotspur currently seize eighth place in the Serie A table with a margin of eight points behind the fourth-placed Juventus.

Conceicao faces mounting pressure since his appointment at the beginning of this year because his team has avoided losing three league matches in a row for two years. Another defeat against Bologna would potentially cost him his job.

Starting his career by winning the Supercoppa Italia title has not changed the fact that failure to qualify for Europe would jeopardize his future plans.

The teams split the points with two goals each when they met in August but Milan have won just one from their previous seven encounters and they hope to duplicate their home record of eight consecutive victories at the San Siro.

Lazio have managed to secure only one victory in their last 34 attempts to defeat the Rossoneri away from home in Serie A, suffering a staggering 22 losses in the process.

Their lone triumph during this period occurred in November 2019. However, the Rome-based club can enter this match in stronger form compared to their struggling hosts.

While Milan have already been eliminated from European competition, Lazio are set to continue their Europa League journey next Thursday, facing Viktoria Plzen in the first leg of their last-16 tie.

Additionally, despite drawing their last two league matches against Napoli and Venezia, Lazio remain within reach of fourth-placed Juventus and hold a six-point advantage over this weekend’s opponents.

However, Marco Baroni’s side suffered a setback in their most recent outing, as a Coppa Italia defeat to Inter Milan on Tuesday dashed their hopes of securing an eighth national cup. Inter will now face Milan in the semi-finals.

With striker Taty Castellanos sidelined due to injury, Lazio have failed to score in their last two matches. Baroni will be eager to break this trend as his team quickly returns to San Siro for their upcoming fixture.
