Al-Nassr will aim to reduce the distance between themselves and the top teams in the Saudi Pro League when they face Damac at Al Awal Park, King Saud University, on Saturday evening.
Currently, the hosts occupy the third spot in the league standings, trailing the league leaders, Al Hilal, by three points. In contrast, the visiting team is in 10th place, with a three-point cushion above the relegation zone after playing nine matches.
Al-Nassr, who narrowly missed out on the title last season, appear determined to contend for the top spot this season. They enter this match with a strong track record and momentum on their side.
In their previous game before the international break, Al-Nassr played to a 2-2 draw against Abha, ending a remarkable 10-match winning streak in all competitions but maintaining an 11-match undefeated run. Despite the draw, their attacking prowess remains evident, as they have scored two or more goals in each of their last eight matches in all competitions, making them the joint-highest scorers in the league with 26 goals.
The last time these two teams met, Al-Nassr secured a 3-0 victory, marking their fourth consecutive win over Damac, during which they outscored Damac 11-2 dating back to August 2021.
On the other hand, Damac finished in eighth place in the Saudi top flight last season and had a challenging start to this campaign, failing to win any of their first seven league matches. However, they seem to have regained their form, securing a well-earned 1-1 draw against Al Hilal and winning their last three matches, including a 2-1 victory over Al Qaisoma in the King's Cup.
Cosmin Contra's team has recorded two wins, four draws, and three losses in their nine matches, scoring 15 goals and conceding 15 in the process. Their most recent victory came before the international break, a convincing 4-1 win against the bottom-placed Al Hazm, with goals from Assan Ceesay, Georges-Kevin Nkoudou, Ahmed Al-Zain, and an own-goal by Bruno Viana.
Considering their recent struggles in Riyadh and the formidable attacking display of their opponents, Jabal Damac is likely to face a tough challenge in this upcoming match and may struggle to secure any points.
With a three-point deficit to the league's top team, Al Hilal, the hosts are now in third place. Damac, meanwhile, is currently in 10th place, three points clear of the drop zone after nine games.

David Ospina, who is currently healing from an elbow injury, won't be able to help Castro, so Nawaf Alaqidi will continue to play goal for the visitors.
Al-Ghannam will begin the first of a three-match suspension here due to his straight red in the previous game, so either Nawaf Al-Boushal or Abdulelah Al-Amri should start at fullback. The league's leading scorer, Cristiano Ronaldo, who has scored 10 goals so far this year, will almost probably start this game as the line-leader.
