Real Madrid is set to make an attempt to regain their winning form in the Spanish top-tier league when they return to domestic action this Saturday evening in a clash against Valencia at the Bernabeu stadium.
Carlo Ancelotti's team, currently occupying the second spot in the standings, played to a goalless draw against Rayo Vallecano in La Liga last weekend. On the other hand, Valencia, holding the eighth position, secured a 1-0 victory against Granada in their most recent outing.
Real Madrid secured their place in the Champions League's round of 16 with two games to spare after a 3-0 triumph over Braga on Wednesday. Brahim Diaz, Vinicius Junior, and Rodrygo were the scorers for the club with a rich European history.
Nevertheless, Real Madrid's recent league form has not been ideal, with only one win in their last three La Liga matches, which came in the El Clasico at the end of October.
In the current league standings, Girona has taken the top spot with 31 points, holding a two-point advantage over second-placed Real Madrid. Barcelona is trailing Real Madrid by two points in third place.
Real Madrid is eager to head into the international break on a positive note, particularly considering their impressive record in recent home La Liga matches against Valencia, having won their last five encounters, including a 2-0 victory in the corresponding match in the 2022-23 season.
Valencia managed to secure a 1-0 victory the last time these teams met at Mestalla in May. Additionally, Valencia is likely to be more rested than Real Madrid due to the latter's European commitments.
Valencia concluded the previous season in the 16th position in Spain's top football division, marking their lowest finish in La Liga since they were relegated to the Segunda Division at the close of the 1985-86 season.
However, in the early months of the current season, Los Che have displayed several positive signs, managing to secure five victories, three draws, and enduring four defeats in 12 matches, resulting in the accumulation of 18 points, positioning them in eighth place in the league standings.
Under the guidance of Ruben Baraja, Valencia currently trails fifth-placed Athletic Bilbao by a mere three points and is keenly eyeing a potential European qualification for the season. Their squad, composed largely of young talents, exhibits substantial potential.
As they approach the upcoming match, Valencia brings along a five-game unbeaten streak, including three victories in their last four games across various competitions. Their most recent La Liga fixture saw them secure a 1-0 win over Granada, with Pepelu's first-half penalty making the pivotal difference in the encounter.
Notably, Los Che possess one of the most promising young talents in La Liga, with Javi Guerra's performances attracting considerable attention. The 20-year-old player will aim to showcase his abilities once again on the upcoming Saturday evening, with a strong performance against Real Madrid potentially amplifying the interest surrounding him.
