Gian Piero Gasperini, the Atalanta manager, receives his first major title of his career; Ademola Lookman, a former Everton player, steals the show with an incredible hat-trick

Ademola Lookman's spectacular hat-trick gave Atalanta a 3-0 victory in the Europa League final, ending Bayer Leverkusen's 51-game unbeaten streak.

After an incredible season in which Lookman drove them to tears, Xabi Alonso's team finally ran out of steam. Lookman opened the score with a back-post finish on minute 12 and doubled the lead with a breathtaking curling attempt on minute 14.

With a forceful left-footed shot into the top corner to complete his historic treble, he made history by becoming the first player to ever score a hat-trick in a Europa League final.

Leverkusen's ambitions of winning a treble ended after winning their first Bundesliga title with ease, but they can still secure a domestic double if they defeat Kaiserslautern in the German Cup on Saturday.

This was an overdue victory and the first significant trophy in Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini's lengthy tenure.
