Atletico Madrid aims for a third consecutive victory across all competitions as they prepare to resume their La Liga journey against Mallorca this Saturday.

Diego Simeone's squad, currently holding the fourth spot in the league, secured a 3-1 win against Villarreal before the recent international break. Meanwhile, Mallorca, positioned 17th in the standings, suffered a 2-0 defeat against Real Betis in their latest outing.

In their 12 league matches this season, Atletico has accumulated 28 points from nine wins, one draw, and two losses, placing them six points behind the league leaders, Girona, yet within striking distance of second-placed Real Madrid by just four points.

Despite a setback with a surprising 2-1 loss to Las Palmas earlier in November, Atletico showed resilience by delivering an impressive performance in the Champions League, netting six goals against Celtic without reply. They then continued their momentum with a 3-1 victory over Villarreal in the league.

While they lead Group E in the Champions League with eight points, one ahead of Lazio in second and two above Feyenoord in third, Atletico is yet to secure their place in the last-16 stage. Their upcoming matches include a crucial fixture against Feyenoord to secure qualification before facing La Liga champions Barcelona in early December.

Mallorca's start to the season hasn't been impressive, as they've only accumulated nine points from their initial 12 league matches, placing them in 17th position in the standings.

Despite finishing ninth in Spain's top flight last season, their performance this season has lacked consistency. They've managed just one league victory, secured against Celta Vigo in September. Since that 1-0 win, they've drawn four games and suffered three losses in their seven subsequent league fixtures, notably a 2-0 defeat against Real Betis before the recent international break.

Struggling to find the net consistently, Mallorca has only scored 12 goals in 12 matches, marking the third-lowest scoring record, trailing behind Cadiz (10), Alaves (11), and Las Palmas (11). Vedat Muriqi and Abdon Prats have contributed eight of those goals, emphasizing the team's need for more attacking input from other players, especially as they hover just two points above the relegation zone.

Facing challenges with key players sidelined—Memphis Depay, Thomas Lemar, Vitolo, and Reinildo—Atletico Madrid will also assess Rodrigo Riquelme's fitness before the upcoming game due to a muscular issue. Samuel Lino is anticipated to take up the left-sided wing-back position. However, Atletico will maintain their attacking strategy, fielding the in-form duo of Antoine Griezmann and Alvaro Morata as the front two.

Meanwhile, Mallorca will miss Muriqi due to an ankle injury, and Omar Mascarell is suspended after a red card against Real Betis. Prats is set to fill Muriqi's spot in the forward line, joined by Cyle Larin, who is yet to score in La Liga this season. Samu Costa and Antonio Sanchez are expected to control the midfield, while Sergi Darder is likely to step in for the absent Mascarell. Manager Aguirre is anticipated to maintain a defensive setup with a back five for their upcoming clash at Wanda Metropolitano.

Mallorca has had difficulty adjusting to the demands of the top division thus far this season, as evidenced by their current 17th-place ranking in La Liga. The away team will be feeling rather confident going into this match after easily defeating Boavista 4-1 in a friendly last week.

On the other side, Atletico Madrid has been playing well this season and is now in fourth position in the league rankings. In their most recent match, Los Colchoneros easily defeated Villarreal 3-1, and they'll aim for a repeat performance this weekend.
