At the Allianz Arena on Saturday afternoon, Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich take on SV Darmstadt 98 in an attempt to extend their winning run in all competitions to five games. This is the first time the two sides have faced each other since the 2016–17 season, when Bayern won both the home and away games by a score of 1-0.

After falling to RB Leipzig in the German Super Cup final in August, Bayern Munich has gone 12 games without a loss in all competitions, winning 10 of those games and scoring 39 goals.

The German powerhouses extended their incredible record-breaking unbeaten run in the group stage to 37 games on Tuesday, following up their 3-1 away success over Mainz 05 in the Bundesliga last weekend with another win against Galatasaray by the same score in the Champions League.

Halfway through the first half, Mauro Icardi cancelled out Kingsley Coman's early goal with a penalty kick. However, Bayern rallied with a goal from summer acquisition Harry Kane, and Jamal Musiala scored a third to complete the triumph.

Two points behind league leaders Bayer Leverkusen in third place in the Bundesliga standings after eight games, Thomas Tuchel's team is already five points clear at the top of Group A halfway through.

Given that Bayern have won their last seven games in a row and have never lost in eight prior top-flight encounters against Darmstadt, they are obviously bubbling with confidence right now and will be hopeful of more success on Saturday.

The Bavarian team also has an amazing home record against promoted teams, having won 29 of the previous 32 Bundesliga games at the Allianz Arena, finishing with a maximum of five points, and scoring four goals or more in each of those contests.

After spending six years away from the Bundesliga, Darmstadt had a while to get used to life again in the league, winning just one of their first five games. However, they ended the international break with a real high after beating Augsburg and Werder Bremen back-to-back.

Nevertheless, Leipzig defeated the Lilies 3-1 at home last weekend, preventing them from making it three wins in a row. Die Roten Bullen led by two goals inside the first 24 minutes, but Tobias Kempe promptly equalized through a penalty kick. However, Lois Openda gave the visitors their two-goal lead back, condemning the home team to their sixth league loss of the year.

With 12 points from their first eight games, Torsten Lieberknecht's team is now sitting 12th in the Bundesliga standings, just three points above the bottom three. They have started the same as fellow promoted team Heidenheim, who are only one spot above them on goal differential.

Darmstadt has scored goals in each of their previous seven Bundesliga games, demonstrating that they have little trouble scoring this season. However, their defense has been far from impressive; they have already given up 22 goals, which is tied for most in the division with cellar club Mainz.

The Lilies are playing against a rampant Bayern team that has scored in each of their last 61 home league games. This is concerning because the Lilies have lost their last 25 away games in the Bundesliga, which is the longest run of any current top-flight team.

Leon Goretzka of Bayern Munich missed the team's midweek victory over Galatasaray due to a successful hand surgery he had last Sunday. The German team has since acknowledged that Goretzka will miss their "upcoming matches".

Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer will make his first appearance in the starting lineup in 350 days, but Dayot Upamecano, Raphael Guerreiro, Tarek Buchmann, and Gabriel Marusic (ACL) are still in the treatment room. Serge Gnabry (fractured forearm) will also be evaluated before kickoff.

After overcoming a muscular ailment to start in midweek, Noussair Mazraoui might play at right back. With Goretzka out of the picture, Konrad Laimer is expected to reunite with Joshua Kimmich in midfield.

When he leads the line this weekend, Harry Kane—who has already scored nine goals in just eight Bundesliga games—will be aiming to reach double figures. Coman, Musiala, and Leroy Sane are all expected to support the Englishman in attack.

Regarding Darmstadt, Aaron Seydel (muscle) and Braydon Manu (ankle) are both questionable and will be evaluated prior to kickoff. Fabio Torsiello is sidelined due to a hamstring injury.

Matthias Bader's illness kept him out of the last round loss to Leipzig, but he should be well enough to start against Bayern in lieu of Tim Skarke in the starting lineup. Christoph Klarer, Jannik Muller, and Matej Maglica will all likely stay in the back three.

After the international break, the hosts returned to the league and defeated Mainz 3-1 on the road last week. Harry Kane and Kingsley Coman scored in the first half, and Leon Goretzka doubled their lead in the second half after Mainz's Anthony Caci drew one back in the 43rd.

They are now two points behind league leaders Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga, where they have yet to lose. They defeated Galatasaray 3-1 on the road to extend their winning streak in the UEFA Champions League. Coman and Kane both scored goals in the victory.

The last time out, the visitors won two straight games before losing 3-1 at home to RB Leipzig. Thirteen times in all competitions, the two teams have faced off, with eight of those encounters taking place in the Bundesliga. With 11 victories under their belt, the hosts have, as predicted, dominated the match against the visitors. Only one of the visits' victories over the defending champions has resulted in a draw. When they played each other in the 2016–17 Bundesliga season, Bayern Munich won both of their home and away games by a score of 1-0.Against the visitors, the home team has won eight straight games, scoring 18 goals and giving up only four goals during that span. With their lone victory in this match being in the former Oberliga Süd in 1950, Darmstadt is without a win in the Bundesliga against the hosts.

The Bavarians' 3-0 loss against RB Leipzig in the DFL-Supercup in August marked their only defeat in all competitions. They are heavy favorites and have won 10 of their last 12 games in all competitions.

This season, Thomas Tuchel's team has won four of their five home games across all competitions, scoring 19 goals and giving up six in that time. They should have no trouble finding the back of the net as they have scored in each of their last 61 home league games.According to reports, Manuel Neuer is back to full fitness, and he should soon be back in the starting lineup.

This season, Die Lilien have only won one away game in all competitions; during that time, they have scored four goals and given up fourteen goals. More than any other Bundesliga team at the moment, they have not kept a clean sheet in their last 25 away league games. They may have trouble here because they haven't scored in four of their last five encounters with the hosts.
