Having already clinched promotion, Burnley aim to overtake Leeds United for the Championship title as they host Millwall at Turf Moor on Saturday.

The seventh-placed visitors, meanwhile, are hoping to secure a playoff spot on the final day of the 2024-25 season.

Burnley are three points shy of reaching 100 points, boasting 27 wins, 16 draws, and only two losses from their 45 league games this season.

The Clarets confirmed their swift return to the Premier League with a tight 2-1 win over third-placed Sheffield United earlier this month.

Following their promotion celebrations, they delivered a commanding 5-0 victory against Queens Park Rangers last Saturday, with Zian Flemming and Jeremy Sarmiento each scoring twice after Josh Cullen’s early strike.

This marked their fourth straight win, extending their unbeaten streak to 32 games (21 wins, 11 draws), though they trail Leeds United due to a worse goal difference.

Leeds hold a +13 goal difference edge over Burnley, so Scott Parker’s side can only claim the title with a win if Leeds fail to beat Plymouth Argyle, or with a draw if Leeds lose.

Beyond the title race, Burnley are driven to complete the Championship season without a home defeat, having won 13 and drawn nine of their 22 matches at Turf Moor.

Millwall have surged toward a top-six finish, winning seven of their last 10 league games, including five of their past six.

After a 4-1 loss to Blackburn Rovers, they rebounded with back-to-back home wins against Norwich City and Swansea City.

Mihailo Ivanovic scored twice in a 3-1 victory over Norwich, and George Saville’s goal sealed a 1-0 win against Swansea last Saturday, keeping the Lions in seventh with one game left.

Although Blackburn Rovers and Middlesbrough are also in the running for the playoffs, Alex Neil's team is really only one point behind Bristol City in fifth place and behind sixth-place Coventry City on goal differential.

A draw will only be sufficient if the Robins lose with a five-goal swing in goal differential and Blackburn fails to accumulate the requisite number of points. If Millwall defeats Burnley and one of Coventry or Bristol City loses, they would guarantee a top-six finish in the second division for the first time since 2001–02.

The Lions can draw comfort from the fact that they were the last team to defeat Burnley in a Championship game when they won by a slim margin of 1-0 at home in November, but they will know that they will face a formidable obstacle if they want to become the first away team to win at Turf Moor this season.
