Celtic, the reigning champions of the Scottish Premiership, will aim to maintain their top position in the league as they host Dundee at Parkhead this Saturday afternoon.

Celtic has secured 10 points in their first four top-flight matches, whereas Dundee has only managed half as many points, placing them in mid-table.

Following a goalless home draw against St Johnstone, Celtic returned to their winning ways with a narrow 1-0 victory over their rivals, Rangers, just before the international break. This victory was marked by controversy as VAR denied a goal for Rangers before Kyogo Furuhashi scored the winning goal in the first-half stoppage time, giving Celtic the upper hand in Glasgow.

Brendan Rodgers, Celtic's manager, praised the "massive result" achieved by his team at Ibrox, where a capacity crowd was expecting a fierce showdown. Rodgers is now keen on building positive momentum ahead of their Champions League group-stage opener against Feyenoord next Tuesday.

Celtic enters Saturday's match with confidence, having won their last six encounters with Dundee, with an impressive aggregate score of 22-4. Their remarkable 46-game unbeaten streak at home in all competitions also works in their favor as they seek to outperform joint leaders Motherwell in the coming weeks.

Dundee, after securing promotion as Championship winners last season, has made a respectable start to their return to the Premiership, gathering five points from their initial four matches. They clinched their first league victory this season by defeating Hearts 1-0 last month. In their recent match, they were leading 2-0 against St Johnstone but allowed two late goals, including a 96th-minute equalizer, leading to a 2-2 draw in Perth.

Manager Tony Docherty was initially at a loss for words after the match but later acknowledged that his Dundee side would learn from the disappointment and strive to return to their winning ways as soon as possible.

However, claiming a victory on Saturday will be a significant challenge for Dundee, as they have not beaten Celtic, either at home or away, in any competition since a 2-0 success at Parkhead in May 2001 when Ivano Bonetti was in charge.

Celtic has received a boost with the return to training of Reo Hatate, who was sidelined with a calf injury. Hatate could feature in the matchday squad this weekend. Additionally, center-back Cameron Carter-Vickers and attacker Marco Tilio are nearing their return as they have begun light training. Unfortunately, Israeli winger Liel Abada is expected to be out for up to four months due to a thigh problem, joining Maik Nawrocki, James McCarthy, and Stephen Welsh in the treatment room.

In summary, Celtic is set to host Dundee FC at Celtic Park for their fifth Scottish Premiership matchday fixture, coming off a morale-boosting win against arch-rivals Rangers, while Dundee FC is looking to bounce back from a 2-2 draw with St. Johnstone, currently holding sixth place in the league standings with five points from four games. Celtic, on the other hand, shares the top spot with 10 points from four outings.
