Comoros came from behind to hold 2022 Africa Cup of Nations champions Madagascar 1-1 in Monday’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match played at the Grand Stade Al-Hoceima.

The clash will not in any way affect which team is proceeding to the next stage from the group A because the host country has qualified mathematically and the visitor team has been eliminated.

In a match played at Stade Municipal de Berkane last Friday, Comoros thrashed Gambia 2-1 to qualify for the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.

Les Coelacantes were trailing at some point after Alassana Jatta scored, but they equalized seven minutes to the break through Rafiki Said, and with the game going to a stalemate, Myziane Maolida struck in the ninetieth minute to give Comoros their second AFCON.

Stefano Cusin men have played five matches in the AFCON qualifiers and are second on the log with nine points with Gambia Failing to beat them four points behind the group leaders Tunisia but one point ahead of them.

Comoros would secure the group if they triumph on Monday while Tunisia could not gather the optimal point against Gambia, however, the hosts have never defeated the Malagasy; only accomplishing two draws and four losses in six prior games.

Their dream of qualifying for next year’s AFCON in Morocco is now over after they were pounded 3-2 by Tunisia at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium last Thursday.

Barea conceded the opening goal to Hamza Rafia before a goal from Tunisian goal keeper’s own goal put Barea back in the game then they again fell behind to Sayfallah Ltaief score before Ibrahim Amada scored an equaliser for his team to end the first half 2-2.
Tunisia were down to ten men when Wajdi Kechrida was shown a second yellow card in the 89th to join the list of the bookable offences but Madagascar failed to capitalize on the situation and ended up conceding a final minute of regulation time goal to lose the match.

After losing the other three games and only managing two draws against Comoros and Gambia, the Malagasy are currently in the bottom of the group with two points and are still looking for their first win of this AFCON qualifying season.

Romuald Rakotondrabe's team is hoping to snap their losing streak when they visit Comoros on Monday. They have lost their past six games in all competitions.

With Johan N'Zi, Marco Ilaimaharitra, and Amada, who scored the goal in the previous game, forming a midfield three, Teva Gardies is probably going to stay in goal.

Said scored Comoros' first goal last time out and then went on to score the game-winning goal himself. Maolida replaced Said, and the two players may start as a front two on Monday.

Expected to start in midfield, Youssouf M'Changama, who has scored two of the six goals in qualifying for the visitors, will be looking to increase his total.
