When Borussia Dortmund hosts Heidenheim in the Bundesliga on Friday night, they'll be hoping to get back to winning.

After being promoted to Germany's top division for the first time in their history, the visitors have dropped both of their league openers.

Dortmund, of course, is an experienced veteran at the top of the Bundesliga, having placed in the top four spots each of the previous eight years.

When BVB entered the final day of the season in first place and needed all three points at home against Mainz 05 to defeat their fierce rivals, Bayern Munich, they came agonizingly close to ending Bayern's dominance of the division. However, they were penalized following a thrilling 2-2 tie, which saw Bayern win their 11th straight championship thanks to a goal from FC Koln's Jamal Musiala in the 89th minute.

Dortmund lost at VfL Bochum on Saturday, with Donyell Malen erasing Kevin Stoger's first goal. This comes after Dortmund defeated Koln themselves on the season's first weekend. Despite numerous attempts to score the game-winning goal, neither team was able to do so.

Since Edin Terzic returned to the club this summer for his second stint as manager, Dortmund's home form has been quite strong. On Friday night, they will be looking to score at least a couple goals en route to a comfortable victory under the floodlights at the Westfalenstadion.

When playing Hoffenheim on Saturday, Heidenheim was incredibly unlucky not to record their first-ever positive Bundesliga result, with the visitors snatching the victory thanks to a penalty kick from Andrej Kramaric in the waning seconds of regulation.

The Bundesliga's newest team had a 2-0 halftime lead thanks to goals from Jan-Niklas Beste and Marvin Pieringer, who were promoted in the most dramatic of ways by beating Hamburger SV into the automatic promotion spots on the final day of the previous season.

Maximilian Beier and Pavel Kaderabek, who both scored goals three minutes apart to tie the game, then Croatian attacker Kramaric, who converted a penalty after a protracted VAR review, broke the hearts of the home team.

Frank Schmidt, the team's head coach, won't be in a panic just yet, especially considering that his team had more control versus Wolfsburg in their first game before taking 20 shots in their defeat to Hoffenheim. When they arrive in Dortmund on Friday, they will undoubtedly face a challenge to avoid going into the international break without a point.
