After winning five out of six games without conceding a single goal, Juventus have positioned themselves as strong contenders for the Scudetto. They are set to face the in-form Cagliari on Saturday.

Juventus has climbed to the second spot in the Serie A standings through tenacious performances, while Cagliari has scored eight goals in their last three victories. Juventus is enjoying their best start to a season since their last title win in 2019-20, and they are the closest challengers to Serie A leaders Inter after 11 matches, largely thanks to their exceptional defensive record.

In Europe's top five leagues, no team has more clean sheets than Juventus, with eight to their name, sharing the top spot with Ligue 1's Nice. They are currently on a streak of six consecutive clean sheets, which is their best run since they achieved eight consecutive clean sheets between October 2022 and January 2023.

In their recent match against Fiorentina at Stadio Artemio Franchi, Juventus secured a shutout victory with Fabio Miretti's early goal on the break. They have also won the Turin derby and triumphed over title rivals Milan, establishing themselves as a formidable force this season. Surprisingly, their year-long ban from UEFA competitions seems to have had a positive impact.

During the gaps between Serie A fixtures, Max Allegri has developed a solid defensive formation on the training ground, which will be put to the test in the upcoming Derby d'Italia against Inter. Before that, they will host Cagliari, a team they have dominated in recent history.

Juventus has won 11 of their last 12 league meetings with Cagliari, averaging 2.3 goals per game and achieving eight clean sheets in the process.

After scoring the decisive goal in Florence last week, Fabio Miretti is expected to join Manuel Locatelli and Weston McKennie in the Juventus midfield this Saturday. This change comes as a result of Adrien Rabiot being suspended due to a series of accumulated bookings.

With Weston McKennie taking a central role and Tim Weah, another American international, sidelined due to injury, Andrea Cambiaso and Filip Kostic could assume the wing-back positions for the home team, following their usual 3-5-2 formation. Alongside Weah, defensive players Mattia De Sciglio, Danilo, and Alex Sandro are also unavailable for the match.

In the competition to partner Federico Chiesa in the attacking lineup, Dusan Vlahovic, the Serbian striker, will be contending against Moise Kean and Arkadiusz Milik. Vlahovic has a history of scoring five Serie A goals against Cagliari, including his very first Serie A goal in November 2019.

On the other hand, the visiting team is still dealing with the absence of Nahitan Nandez, who is recovering from a thigh injury, and Marko Rog, who has been sidelined with a long-term ACL injury. Nevertheless, their former Juventus manager, Claudio Ranieri, should have the rest of the squad available for the match at the Allianz Stadium.

Zito Luvumbo and Gaetano Oristanio, on loan from Inter, have recently been favored as the front duo for Cagliari. However, Andrea Petagna, Eldor Shomurodov, Gianluca Lapadula, and Leonardo Pavoletti offer more experienced options in case Ranieri decides to make some changes.
