Eredivisie reigning champions PSV Eindhoven come to the Rat Verlegh on Saturday after experiencing their first league loss of the season on the campaign.

For the hosts, the primary reason behind their performance within this particular confrontation will be to achieve victory in this weekend’s match, after suffering two straight losses in their previous match.

After 10 successive Eredivisie triumphs to start the season, PSV tasted their first domestic loss of the campaign on Saturday; they were edged 3-2 by Ajax in the weekend’s stated heavyweight encounter at the Johann Cruyff Arena.

This was after Peter Bosz’s men had led 1-0 and 2-1 through goals by Luuk de Jong and Ivan Perisic but were equalised on both instances by Davy Klaassen and a debutant Kian Fitz-Jim and then were beaten by Mika Godts 16 minutes to the close.

However, De Rood-witten did not take long to come from the heartbreak to get back into the winner’s circle after thrashing championship team Girona 4-0 in their fourth group-stages champions league match on Tuesday.

Malik Tillman and Ryan Flamingo scored before the interval to inspire PSV to a comfortable win at the Philips Stadion, while later a magnificent strike by Johan Bakayoko and an own goal by Ladislav Krejci made the scoreline look even more emphatic.

The Dutch giants will now aim to take their lead to five points in the Eredivisie table against second-placed Ajax, who they do not face until Sunday when they head to Twente in the der slamming match at De Grolsch Veste.

The Saturday visitors will be certain they would come away with a three-point haul this weekend based on the tea’s near invincible record against the other in recent fixtures, having won eight of the nine encounters in all competitions since 2014.

When the two clubs faced off at the Asito Stadium on Saturday, NAC Breda, still reeling from a dismal cup elimination to lower league team Barendrecht, was unable to prevent a 2-0 loss to Heracles.

After a fierce first half, Carl Hoefkens' team fell down to a penalty kick from Brian De Keersmaecker six minutes from the break. De Keersmaecker then scored a second goal shortly after the hour to complete the scoring.

For the first time since September, Parel van het Zuiden has now lost back-to-back games; however, they bounced back with four consecutive wins and will be looking for a similar reaction.

Despite only behind eighth-place Go Ahead Eagles on goal differential, Breda has fallen out of the European spots and is now in ninth position in the league standings with 15 points after 11 games played.

Just before the international break, Saturday's hosts have a difficult task, but their recent home performance—three consecutive victories by a total score of 6-1—should give them some hope.

Cherrion Valerius of Breda will miss his sixth straight game due to a knee injury he sustained during a friendly match against ADO Den Haag in October.

Leo Greiml, who received his fifth yellow card of the season last time out, is also certain to miss the home team's match due to a one-game ban.

The midfielders are still a long way from playing for the away team again, and Dutchmen Joey Veerman and Jerdy Schouten are still out of contention.

The fitness of 25-year-old Noa Lang for this weekend's match is extremely doubtful after he had an injury scare during PSV's European match against Girona.
