NEC's recent form has been particularly impressive, with three consecutive victories in late February and early March. These wins include a notable draw against Ajax and convincing triumphs over Sparta Rotterdam, Volendam, and Heerenveen, propelling them into the top six under the guidance of coach Rogier Meijer.
They would become the inaugural team to achieve this feat in the Eredivisie this season, as the away side aims to preserve their undefeated streak and extend their advantage in the quest to reclaim the Dutch championship this season.
PSV Eindhoven, who last secured the top-flight title in 2018, have embarked on a remarkable journey towards reclaiming the trophy. They have maintained their position at the summit of the league table throughout the entire season, accumulating 72 points from 26 matches, with victories in 23 games and only three instances of dropping points.
However, their flawless start to the season was halted after mid-January, with Peter Bosz's team experiencing three draws in their last nine matches. These draws followed wins over Almere City, Volendam, Heracles, and PEC Zwolle, with their unbeaten run being maintained despite these minor setbacks.
Despite a 2-2 draw against Feyenoord at home, which preserved their ten-point lead at the top, PSV Eindhoven have continued their momentum with consecutive league victories before the break. They also faced Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League round-of-16 tie, albeit unsuccessfully. Recently, they secured wins against Go Ahead Eagles and Twente, with Sergino Dest and Ricardo Pepi scoring decisive goals in those matches.
Although their recent form hasn't matched their earlier dominance, PSV Eindhoven has managed to preserve their unbeaten run and a significant lead in pursuit of the title. With their focus now solely on the league, they aim to edge closer to securing the top spot when they return to action this weekend.
It's likely that NEC will be without Tjarron Chery and Dirk Proper due to injury, along with Bas Dost who is also unavailable. In their typical 4-2-3-1 formation, Kodai Sano will likely fill in for Chery, and Koki Ogawa will continue as the main striker, having scored 12 goals overall this season.
