Norway Women and Finland Women are set to fight it out in a bid to win back-to-back games when they collide in the last match on Sunday at the Stade de Tourbillon.
Finland beat Iceland in the first game in Women Euro 2025 and Norway scored a late winner at an early stage of the tournament in an event hosted by Switzerland.
Hopes that they will enter the knockout stages were boosted after they beat Switzerland 2-1 on the first day.
Ada Hegerberg struck in the opening stages of the second half to equalise to Nadine Riesens first half effort and an own goal by Julia Stierli soon swung the pendulum in the direction of Norway in the match.
Hegerberg had a chance to increase the Norwegian lead by blasting the penalty over the right post beyond the reach of the Switzerland keeper but her failure to convert the spot kick did not cost her team as it prevailed to win in what turned out to be its third Evo 2025 win over Switzerland.
If Norway manage to beat Finland on Sunday, they can now lock their position in the quarter-finals, should Iceland fail to win the other game of the group.
In order to amass all three points, Norway is going to have to win its successive matches after the last time they made a four-game winning streak at the end of 2024.
The last two times Finland playing in the European Championships (2013 and 2022) they have been unable to get out of the group stage.
Consequently they are hoping to get in to the quarter-finals since their home town event in 2009.
They already share the points table with Norway on three positions following a narrow win over 10-man Iceland by 1-0 in first matchday.
Finland made full use of their numerical superiority after Hildur Antonsdottir was red-carded in the 58th minute with Katariina Kosola scoring the winning goal to secure all the three points.
