Bayern vs. Partizan Forecast: February 8, 2024. The 26th round of the Euroleague will include five games on Thursday, starting at 8:30 p.m. at Stark Arena with Partizan and Bayern.
In conjunction with the national cup final events and the start of Eurobasket 2025 qualifiers, this is the last round before a three-week vacation.
Last week, Partizan basketball lost two games in a row, both away from home, in the Euroleague. The first was a 70-85 loss to Monaco, while the second was an 84-88 loss against Virtus. Both of their losses were characterized by their struggles in the closing quarters, which gave opponents a clear lead.
Partizan's situation was exacerbated by Split's 67-74 victory in Belgrade, another unexpected defeat brought on by the ABA league. Zeljko Obradovic, the coach, took a chance by sitting Kevin Punter and PJ Dozier against Split, which did not result in a win.
With twelve wins and thirteen defeats, Partizan is currently ranked tenth in the Euroleague. Their hopes of making the playoffs are dependent on their performance versus Bayern. They are currently behind clubs in the playoff zone.
Bayern, who has had difficulty finding consistency this season, is in an even more difficult scenario. Their inconsistent play has landed them in 15th place with a 10-15 win-loss record. Their inconsistency is exacerbated by the regular injuries to Serge Ibaka and captain Vladimir Lucic, two important players.
When Ibaka and Lucic are healthy, Bayern becomes a very strong team. In 2024, Sylvain Francisco averaged 13.6 points, which was second only to Serge Ibaka. Francisco is known for his outstanding performances. Francisco has participated in every game, whilst Ibaka has only missed two.
This season, both clubs have shown greater offensive than defensive ability. Expecting a fast-paced, high-scoring contest similar to their previous encounter, a cumulative point total of more over 170 would not be out of the ordinary on Thursday.
