Paris Saint-Germain, currently unbeaten and dominating Ligue 1, are set to face their fierce rivals Marseille in Sunday's highly anticipated Le Classique clash at Parc des Princes. With a commanding 16-point lead over second-placed Marseille, PSG are chasing their 52nd victory in this historic rivalry.

Under Luis Enrique’s leadership, the Parisians have won their last six league encounters against Marseille, keeping clean sheets in five of those matches. A win on Sunday would bring them closer to securing their 13th Ligue 1 title.

PSG are riding a wave of momentum after defeating Liverpool on penalties in midweek to secure a spot in the Champions League quarter-finals. Now, they return to domestic action, aiming for their seventh consecutive league win and 21st victory of the season to further solidify their position at the top of the table. With just nine games left in the campaign, Enrique’s side are firmly on course to claim another Ligue 1 trophy.

The Parisians have been formidable at home this season, remaining undefeated at Parc des Princes in league play. Only Nantes and Lyon have managed to take points off them in 12 home fixtures, with Toulouse being the last team to defeat PSG in May 2024.

Since that loss, the French champions have gone 27 matches unbeaten in Ligue 1, winning 22 of those games. Their only dropped points this season have come in 1-1 draws against Reims (twice), Nice, Nantes, and Auxerre, showcasing their consistency and dominance in the league.

Heading into Sunday’s clash, the hosts are in formidable form, having secured six consecutive league victories. They have netted at least three goals in five of those matches, including dominant wins over Brest (5-2), Monaco (4-1), Lyon (3-2), Lille (4-1), and Rennes (4-1). This does not bode well for Roberto De Zerbi’s side, who were beaten 3-0 in the reverse fixture and have suffered two defeats in their last three games.

Meanwhile, Les Olympiens enter Le Classique on the back of four straight losses in this fixture since their Coupe de France victory in February 2023. Despite winning that round of 16 tie 2-1, Marseille have struggled in recent encounters, conceding 12 goals without scoring in their last four meetings. They have let in three or more goals in three of those clashes, with the other ending in a 2-0 defeat.

The Italian manager's main goal is to win the runner-up fight since, although being second behind their undefeated opponents, De Zerbi's team has little prospect of really catching the league-leading hosts, who they are 16 points behind in the next nine matches.

Marseille started the round with 49 points, three points ahead of Nice in third place and five ahead of Monaco and Lille. If the Eaglets defeated 11th-place Auxerre by four goals on Friday, they may have dropped to third place before this weekend's game in Paris.

Even though De Zerbi's team has nine away victories out of 12 away games and six less away points (27) than PSG (33), recent annoyances and previous encounters with the Parisians suggest that they will once again be disappointed.
