At the Stade de la Meinau on Saturday, Ligue 1’s top-performing sides, Strasbourg and champions Paris Saint-Germain, face off in a highly anticipated clash.

Strasbourg are charging toward an unexpected top-four spot, while PSG, having clinched the title last month, are reeling from a rare home loss to Nice that ended their unbeaten run.

Since January 2025, PSG (38 points) and Strasbourg (37 points) have outscored every other Ligue 1 team in points, while also boasting the league’s stingiest defenses, with Strasbourg allowing just 11 goals and PSG 17 in 16 matches.

Strasbourg’s remarkable form continued last weekend with a 3-1 victory over Saint-Etienne at La Meinau, narrowing the gap to the top four.

Liam Rosenior’s squad faced tough tests against Nice and Monaco recently, but they capitalized against struggling Saint-Etienne. The win keeps them level with Lyon and Nice, who also triumphed last time out, with just one point separating them from fourth and two from third-placed Lille.

During the week, Strasbourg secured Rosenior with a new two-and-a-half-year deal, a testament to his leadership during the club’s longest unbeaten streak in 32 years.

Their 11-match unbeaten run is now Ligue 1’s longest, following PSG’s stumble last weekend. If the season began in January, Strasbourg would be legitimate title contenders, such is their sensational form.

Historically, PSG have dominated this fixture, with Strasbourg winning only two of their last 34 meetings, the most recent eight years ago.

While Rosenior’s side has been defensively resolute in 2025, they’ve failed to keep a clean sheet against PSG in their last 20 encounters.

Yet, Strasbourg may catch a break, as this match falls between the two legs of PSG’s Champions League semi-final against Arsenal, potentially splitting the champions’ focus.

All eyes will be on Wednesday night's match at the Parc des Princes since Luis Enrique's team has already secured the title and is no longer attempting a record undefeated season after losing to Nice last time out.

They were extremely irritated by Haise's squad, who won 3-1 despite having just three attempts on goal the whole game. Enrique selected a very powerful team against Nice last Friday and used the same starting lineup in the 1-0 victory over Arsenal on Tuesday.

Marcin Bulka was on hand to consistently stop PSG, making 12 saves, despite the fact that they had 32 efforts, 13 of which were on goal, 17 corners, and an xG of 3.2.
