Canada vs Chile | Copa America 2024 | Post Match

It wasn't an instant classic, but it was enough for Les Rouges to continue making history, making it to the final eight of the tournament in their first time at Copa America. Amazingly, Canada did it despite only scoring one goal in the group stage, through Jonathan David. Canada had plenty of chances to score on Saturday evening against Chile but bad finishing and passing let the team down. 

The story of the game ultimately was Gabriel Suazo's red card in the 27th minute. That put Chile behind the eight ball and La Roja didn't have enough left in the tank to make a difference late. It's another disappointing Copa America for a proud nation, which won the tournament in 2015 and in 2016 on U.S. soil. Now, they're heading home earlier than they expected.
