French Guiana vs. Honduras

Still in pursuit of their inaugural victory in the top tier of the CONCACAF Nations League, French Guiana is set to face Honduras on Thursday at Stade Municipal Dr Edmard Lama.

Last month, Les Yana Dokos managed a 0-0 draw against Trinidad and Tobago, while La H fell to Jamaica with a 2-1 defeat on matchday two.

Match Preview

Inexperienced at this level, French Guiana has shown resilience as a defensive unit, conceding only once in the Nations League this season—a narrow 1-0 loss to Nicaragua.

On matchday two, they achieved their first-ever point in League A by holding one of last season's quarter-finalists to just two shots on target.

While they have been defensively solid, allowing just one goal in their last three competitive outings, Jean-Claude Darcheville's squad has struggled offensively, failing to score in three of their last four matches across all competitions.

French Guiana has not experienced back-to-back defeats in the same Nations League campaign since following a 1-0 loss to Grenada in 2019 with a 2-0 defeat to Belize later that year.

Should they lose on Thursday, alongside a draw between Jamaica and Nicaragua, their chances of advancing to the knockout stage would be eliminated.

The only previous occasion French Guiana hosted Honduras resulted in a remarkable 3-1 victory during a Gold Cup playoff match in March 2015, although they lost the second leg in Honduras 3-0, missing out on qualification for that tournament.

After an impressive start with a 4-0 win over Trinidad and Tobago, Honduras suffered a setback in their second match against Jamaica, where a lackluster defensive performance in the second half led to a 2-1 loss.

This defeat marked the end of a four-match home winning streak in the group stage of the tournament, as it was their first Nations League loss at home since June 2022, when they fell 2-1 to Curacao.

Including their 2-0 defeat in last season's Nations League quarter-finals to Mexico at Estadio Azteca, Los Catrachos have not won any of their last four away matches in this competition, managing to score only once during this stretch.

Reinaldo Rueda's team is just one point behind the top two in Group B and could secure an automatic knockout stage spot with a win on Thursday.

Since a commanding 6-1 victory over Bermuda in a 2026 World Cup qualifier in June, Honduras has lost their last two matches when tied at halftime.

Honduras has recorded wins in their last two encounters against French Guiana, scoring a total of 6-0, but they have not triumphed on Caribbean soil since defeating Curacao 1-0 in a Nations League match in June 2022.
