Harry Kane gives his assessment on Bayern Munich's performance versus Real Madrid in the first leg.

Harry Kane of Bayern Munich stated that the team's 2-2 tie with Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final was "a little disappointing," but he is certain that they would advance the following week.

In the twenty-fourth minute, against the flow of play, Madrid took the lead when Vinicius Jr., assisted by Toni Kroos, tucked home a beautiful through-ball to give the away team a halftime lead.

Munich took the lead with two goals in four minutes in the second half, first from Leroy Sane, then from a penalty area foul by Jamal Musiala, and a Kane shot that took Andriy Lunin by surprise. Similar to their performance against Manchester City in the quarterfinal, Madrid managed to overcome all odds and go into the second leg level, thanks to a penalty kick from Vinicius.

"It's a little disappointing, we had two or three good chances, especially from set plays, once we got ahead 2-1, but this is a Champions League semi-final, we expected a tough game," Kane said to TNT Sports.

Although we are unhappy that we didn't win, it's all to play for next week. Real Madrid is among the top teams in Europe, and they can punish you with one or two moves like they did today.

Early on, Bayern dominated the run of play, and after a few stops from Lunin, Madrid was tied before a sucker punch at the other end gave the visitors the lead.

Kane said, "We had a few opportunities there and played well for the opening ten or fifteen minutes, but their goal came against the flow of play.

They gained momentum, and we found it difficult to play our game. However, in the second half, we played with greater intensity and were deserving of the two goals. It's all to play for even though we couldn't get the third.

"We look forward to next week, but we will tough it out and get ourselves back up."

With his penalty, Kane's goal total for his first season in Munich now stands at 43 goals from as many games.

Even though they lost the Bundesliga crown to Bayer Leverkusen this season, Kane acknowledged that the big games are what lured him away from Tottenham in the offseason.

"The season has been going well so far, but it's all about the next game, the big game away from home in Real Madrid next week," he stated. "Everything we are battling for this year is included in the competition; all you need to do is figure out a way to win."

"I'm not here for a one-time year; I've been here for a long time. Of course, the goal coming into the year was to win trophies. The Champions League is the biggest of them all, even when things haven't gone our way in the Bundesliga or the cup.

"I came for this exact reason—I want to be a part of these big games and moments, and nothing is bigger than playing next week away from home."

Jude Bellingham, Kane's England teammate, was replaced during the second half, and Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti said the 20-year-old was "not at his best."

Bellingham was simply exhausted, he claimed. He was at his breaking point. He'll return to playing at his peak. He wasn't his best self today, but I believe that his injury had an impact on him. He most certainly will return.

Before Kane took his penalty, Bellingham tried to divert his England teammate, but his remarks were ignored.

"It's unclear what he was saying. Kane remarked, "I noticed him mumbling something." "Once I'm in that zone, I try to shut everyone else out." He was probably trying to turn me off with what he said.
