It wasn't very convincing again from Real Madrid, but the reigning champions make it back-to-back wins in LaLiga as they come back from behind to defeat newly promoted Espanyol 4-1 at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu. Ancelotti's side dominated the first half but failed to find a breakthrough against a resolute Espanyol defence. The home side were made to pay for their wastefulness when the visitors went ahead through a Courtois own goal nine minutes after the restart. Bellingham was behind Los Blancos' equaliser four minutes later as his cross slipped through the gloves of Joan Garcia, allowing Carvajal to smash the ball into an open goal. Vinicius' introduction late on provided the fuel for Real Madrid to get past the line as he set up Rodrygo for the home side's second in the 75th minute before the Brazilian bagged one for himself only three minutes later. Mbappe sealed the victory from the penalty spot in the 90th minute as the holders moved one point behind leaders Barcelona who have a game in hand. Real generated an xG of 4.49 in the game, compared to Espanyol's 0.24, while also attempting 31 shots out of which 14 were on target. Ancelotti's men will be back in action in the Spanish top flight on Tuesday when they host Alaves while Espanyol welcome Villarreal on Thursday.
