1
Holstein Kiel and FC Bayern München have faced each other just once before in a competitive fixture. The pair met in the second round of the DFB-Pokal in 2020/21, with the Storks (then in BL2) winning 6-5 on penalties at home (2-2 a.e.t.). It was the first time in 20 years that FCB had been eliminated from the cup so early (last exited in the 2nd round vs. Magdeburg in 2000/01).

Holstein Kiel are set to become the 56th side that FC Bayern München have faced in the Bundesliga. The Bavarians have won each of their last nine games when meeting an opponent for the first time, last failing to do so in October 2000 against Energie Cottbus (1-0 loss). However, the Bavarians lost their most recent away game against a Bundesliga debutant: 3-2 in Heidenheim in April.

Just like 1. FC Heidenheim last term, Holstein Kiel have lost the first two Bundesliga games of their history. Only two Bundesliga debutants have ever lost their first three matches in the competition: Borussia Neunkirchen (1964/65) and Energie Cottbus (2000/01).
4
FC Bayern München are without a clean sheet in their last 12 Bundesliga away matches (since a 1-0 win in Cologne in late November 2023) – their longest such streak since 2010/11 (13 away games). No side has conceded more Bundesliga goals on their travels in 2024 than the Bavarians (25, same as Hoffenheim).
5
Holstein Kiel amassed the highest expected goals against (xGA) value of any side in the Bundesliga across the first two matchdays (4.8). Three of the five goals they have conceded have come from set pieces – another league high. Since Opta records began in 2004/05, no side has conceded as many goals from set pieces in their first two top-flight games than the Storks.
