The Champions League draw gives Liverpool and Arsenal a terrible path to the championship game.

In the Champions League round of 16, Liverpool will play Paris Saint-Germain; Arsenal will play PSV Eindhoven; Aston Villa will play Club Brugge; and Real Madrid will play rivals Atletico Madrid. The dates of the last-16 matches are March 4–5 and March 11–12.

Given that all three English teams are drawn, Liverpool may play Aston Villa in the quarterfinals and Arsenal in the semifinals. Any English team that wants to make it to the final can play Real Madrid, the current champions, but they won't play Barcelona until the very end.

PSG advanced to the knockout stages of the playoffs with an incredible 10-0 aggregate victory over Brest, while Liverpool won the league phase.

After finishing in third place, Arsenal faced PSV, who eliminated Juventus from the playoffs with a 3-1 second-leg triumph and a 4-3 aggregate victory.

After defeating Atalanta 5-2 on aggregate, Aston Villa secured the final automatic qualification spot and will now take on Club Brugge.
