'The most disappointing' loss of Sean Dyche's career was Everton's stunning collapse against Bournemouth.

Sean Dyche said, "To dominate a game for so long and come out of it without something at least is incredibly frustrating" after Everton threw away an incredible 2-0 lead and Bournemouth won 3-2.

'The most disappointing' loss of Sean Dyche's career was Everton's stunning collapse against Bournemouth.

The 3-2 home loss for Everton to Bournemouth was described by Sean Dyche as the most frustrating setback of his career.

With goals from Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Michael Keane in the second half, Sean Dyche's squad appeared to be cantering towards their first Premier League victory of the season.

However, Antoine Semenyo's goal in the 87th minute—the sole attempt on target for Bournemouth—caused Everton to crumble as goals in stoppage time from Lewis Cook and Luis Sinisterra completed a comeback that Andoni Iraola acknowledged his team did not deserve.

"I've had a few [defeats] down my years as a player, coach, manager, but this is the most frustrating," Dyche remarked. "It is extremely frustrating to dominate a game for so long and come out of it without something at least."

"These are ones that as a manager you scratch your head at."

Following Everton's collapse live on our blog...

87 minutes in: AN ENDROUGH INCOMING! Everton was coasting until Dango launched an attack down the left, which gave them an opening. He executes a great cross, and Semenyo is there to tap it in at the back post.

90+2: HOLY COMME BACK! This has been thrown away by Everton! Sean Dyche finds it unbelievable. Everton ought to have vanished from view. Down the right, Sinisterra bursts into space and hits a gorgeous ball that finds Cook, the captain, streaking in. He grabs a point with a succulent header that meets the cross!

90+5: I'm not able to speak! This is just ridiculous. What a mess Everton made. After 87 minutes, they had a 2-0 lead. They are behind 3-2. Crazy. It still amazes me that I'm writing this. Where is the marking when Sinisterra is set free from seven yards out by another ball into the box? He leaves for home. An astounding turnaround. Among the most incredible comebacks I've ever witnessed.

"I could smell it in the air."

"They had one shot on target before their goal and we just threw the game away, just from not doing the hard yards and the basics - win tackles, win headers and see the game through," Dyche stated to Sky Sports, expressing his opinion that his team was not quite at the races.

Our body language spoke volumes when we didn't do that and they continued to chip away at it as if they had all day, which is what we dealt with all day.

There has been a recurring theme today: we haven't taken our chances. The game ought to have ended.

Not to lose the game, but I thought, 'We're not on it here,' after they got one. I could smell it in the air. It's not as simple when the players are out there, but that was my attempt to get them to do the fundamentals.

"We performed incredibly well. However, you must watch the Premier League match. In the Premier League, you have to play every minute, and occasionally these abnormalities occur.

"There's been enough damage here in the time I've been here and we've got to find a way through it."

In his press conference, Dyche added: "I speak to the players all the time and that's been my biggest frustration since I walked in here. I tell them, 'The game lasts for as long as the referee makes it last and you have to play for every breath of the game'.

"You see a side dominate so clearly and create so many chances - unfortunately [taking chances] has been a challenge as long as I've been here - and then just not do the basics. Win your headers, win your tackles, win your races and you
win the game.

"But for some reason, when they score a goal, we all start staring at each other, asking ourselves, 'Who's going to win the header, the race, or the challenge?'" We're waiting on someone person to step up and change things.

"The moment the first goal was scored, I could smell it. Not that we weren't winning, but I could sense that something wasn't right, and I was yelling at them to get in shape and play the dirty side of the game, but we didn't, and they managed to pull off an unexpected victory."
