De Rossi cites lapses in communication as reason for Roma’s late equalizer to Genoa
Genoa vs Roma
Daniele De Rossi was not happy with how his team performed in the second half of today’s 1-1 draw with Genoa.
The Roma technician addressed Genoa’s equalizer in his post-match presser.
“We failed in marking De Winter. He’s one of their best players when it comes to heading the ball,” said De Rossi.
“We have to watch the match again, now it hurts. We failed in communicating with each other in that instant. We conceded in the small area with clear numerical superiority. There is little to analyze, you have to be mentally stronger in these situations.”
“We have to look at the match again. We got too deep into our own half, made too many technical errors and too many turnovers when Genoa pushed and brought many men into our area and we could have hurt them.”
“I didn’t like most of the second half, it’s a shame because we played an excellent match in terms of numbers. We need to build on what we did in the first half.”
“Dovbyk played an excellent match, I tried to get more people close to him. He didn’t tell me about an injury, he just seemed tired. Alexis said he hurt his ankle. Ndicka – I think he had cramps, I asked him how he was and told me ‘fine’ but in the last few minutes he didn’t seem well and I moved Cristante there.”
