Didier Deschamps reasons a "one-off decision" for Kylian Mbappe's exclusion from the France squad for the Nations League.

Coach Didier Deschamps stated that Kylian Mbappe "wanted to come," but the Real Madrid player was left out of France's team for the Nations League matches in November.

Mbappe participated in Tuesday's 3-1 Champions League loss to AC Milan; Deschamps did not specify if he was hurt.

Deschamps stated he had made a "one-off decision" in a media appearance on Thursday.

"Making decisions is my responsibility. Ahead of matches against Italy three days later and Israel on November 14, the coach remarked, "I think it's better that way."

Mbappe missed two France games last month as a precaution following an injury. He joined Real Madrid after his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expired in July.

The decision, according to Deschamps, had nothing to do with accusations made against the player by a Swedish newspaper about a trip he took there during the previous international break. Mbappe called the reports "fake news," and his representatives called them "totally false and irresponsible."

 
"I'm not going to argue," declares Deschamps.

"There are two things I can tell you: first, Kylian wanted to come. Second, since the presumption of innocence exists and must exist, it is not the additional sporting issues that are involved.

"It's a one-off choice for this gathering."

Despite having eight goals in 15 games for his new team, Mbappe has only scored once in his last six games to attract attention.

Vinicius Jr. has been used in the Frenchman's usual position on the left of the attack, while the 25-year-old has found it difficult to contribute in high-profile games.

Real Madrid is already nine points behind its opponents in La Liga after losing 4-0 to Barcelona last month.
