Two teams that will be definitely craving for a win when the Portuguese Primeira Liga round 11 kicks off and Estoril Praia will welcome newly promoted side AVS on Saturday.
Just like in the previous match, both teams are on 10 points in the second half of the table and we expect both sets to go head to head and engage in an open bonanza at Estadio Antonio Coimbra da Mota with each trying to master the other.
Estoril Praia lost 4-0 to Porto in the most recent fixture when both sides faced each other at Estadio do Dragao last weekend.
Benin-born Danny Namaso and Pepe scored in quick succession to enhance Porto’s dominance before Wenderson Galeno, a second-half substitute, banged in a brace to sum up a good team exhibition.
This happened after Estoril Praia got a good 4-1 win against Arouca at the Estadio Antonio Coimbra da Mota on October 26 bringing to an end a three match losing streak in all competitions.
Ian Cathro men have now lost five of the 10 games to enter the Primeira Liga season and have only managed two victories and three draws with a total of nine points having their position in 12th position as they have the similar points as Boavista, Rio Ave and Saturday’s opponents.
Estoril Praia should be hoping to get their campaign back on track this weekend against an opponent that has not registered an away win in the league this season, having lost three and drawn only one of their four matches this season.
Thus, AVS were totally frustrated and lost 3-2 to a determined Famalicao side when the two met at the Estadio do Desportivo das Aves last Sunday.
With the outcome of last Sunday's match, Vitor Campelos's team has now lost three of their previous five Primeira Liga games, drawn two, given up 12 goals, and scored three goals since defeating Rio Ave 1-0 on September 4 thanks to a goal from Lopes in the second half.
Pedro Alvaro, a 24-year-old defender who was suspended after going over the yellow card barrier with his booking against Porto last Sunday, will be missed by Estoril Praia.
Regarding injuries, Cathro will be unable to identify experienced defender Eliaquim Mangala and former Braga player Xeka since they have been sidelined due to thigh and muscular issues, respectively.
Joao Carvalho is doubtful after suffering an injury against Porto last weekend, and veteran attacker Helder Costa has missed six consecutive games after leaving the field due to an injury sustained against Nacional on September 15.
However, Brazilian attacker Nene will not play for AVS since he has been out since suffering an injury during their August 25 match against Vitoria de Guimaraes.
Fellow countryman Lucas Moura, who had a serious shoulder injury back in March, joins him on the club's injury chart as he continues his arduous road to full health.
