Thomas Tuchel intends to restore "excitement" to Three Lions games.
According to Thomas Tuchel, Gareth Southgate's England team was burdened by pressure during the summer Euros, and he wants to establish a system and atmosphere that enables the team to play "with excitement, hunger, and joy to win"; World Cup 2026 qualifying begins on Friday against Albania.

After claiming that his team's players were burdened by pressure and "playing not to lose" at the Euros, Thomas Tuchel wants to restore the excitement for England.
After a string of lacklustre performances, England finished runners-up to Spain at the last hurdle for the second consecutive European Championships under Gareth Southgate.
In order to help the squad go forward and stop the 60-year streak without a major title, Tuchel has been entrusted with winning the World Cup next year. However, he argues that in order to accomplish this, the players must be allowed to express themselves freely.
Tuchel stated, "I felt tension and pressure on the shoulders of the players watching the Euros," prior to Friday's World Cup qualifying match against Albania at Wembley.
Instead of playing with the enthusiasm of creating something extraordinary, it seemed as though they were playing to avoid losing and to avoid any additional pressure. We have to change this.
"I want us to play with the excitement and hunger and joy to win," he stated. "One aspect of football is accepting failure. You want to put into practice this sense of community and the happiness that comes from everyone feeling free to express themselves and give it their all.
"Play with the joy to win and not the fear to lose."
Kane: At Euros, we lacked energy and rhythm.
England captain Harry Kane, who finished as the tournament's joint-top scorer and played a significant role throughout the Southgate period, supported that view.
"This was the first [tournament where] we were one of the favourites," he stated. "It was obvious that everyone anticipated our victory. We struggled to create the rhythm and energy together, so we drew heavily on our prior tournament experience.
In a way, it demonstrates our character to have made it to the European final, but when we look back at the games, we definitely lacked the rhythm we had in previous contests.
Thomas has examined that, examined numerous games and scenarios, and talked about how players interact on the field and during specific game moments, such as dropping off, where it's important for everyone to support and communicate with one another.
"We're close, we couldn't be any closer as a national team and Thomas knows he doesn't have to change everything, but there's a few details that if we do change, we've got a good chance of being successful next summer."
"We need to make sure everyone knows his role," said Tuchel.
When asked how to give players the freedom to express themselves, Tuchel responded that it depends on the structure and knowledge that each player has of their assigned job, which he believes was lost in Germany during the tournament due to system changes.
"Gareth did excellent [in playing players in right positions]," Tuchel stated. "They lacked the freedom to express themselves in a stable framework at the Euros. However, England wasn't the only team who switched up their lineup from game to game.
"I believe that in order to have freedom and be able to search for answers inside your own space, we must first ensure that everyone understands and accepts their position on the pitch and plays it disciplinedly.
"We need to bond a little better, find more rhythm and a little better connections on the pitch."
This week marked the beginning of those ties in Tuchel's first camp. Although it had been a "crash course" for him in terms of how international weeks operate, the German expressed excitement about the calibre of the England team.
Regarding his players, Tuchel remarked, "They reminded me instantly why I was so excited about the job," "They are to blame. They were exceptional both on the pitch and in their group interactions and behaviour. They were great. Our training sessions were excellent and extremely focused. Everyone was willing to give it their all.
"Good vibes and a pleasant environment. Being with players, putting ideas into practice on the pitch, and adjusting to their personalities, skills, and capabilities is what I enjoy most. So far, it's been great.
