Following the failure of the Benjamin Sesko capture, Chelsea is interested in a "signable" Premier League striker.
After failing to sign RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko this summer, Chelsea is preparing a move for Aston Villa forward Jhon Duran. The Blues and Arsenal seemed to be competing for the Slovenian striker, as both teams indicated that they would fulfil his £55 million release clause.
However, Sesko is said to have agreed to a new deal this week with better terms since the Bundesliga club is eager to lock him down before Euro 2024.
It appeared from the signing that Sesko would still be allowed to join a top European team, albeit at a cost somewhat greater than what his prior clause would have allowed.
In response, Chelsea is allegedly stepping up their pursuit of Duran, a Villa player who was mentioned as a January transfer to Stamford Bridge. The Colombian joined Birmingham in January 2023 following a £14.75 million transfer from Chicago Fire, however in 49 games, he has only managed eight goals for the team.
The Times claims that Chelsea has increased their pursuit of the youngster and that they view him as a "attainable" summertime target.
Ollie Watkins has been the starting forward for the 20-year-old, as manager Unai Emery has favoured a one-forward lineup. But in May, he showed prospective suitors what he was capable of when he scored twice in a thrilling 3-3 draw with Liverpool after coming off the bench.
Other clubs were also interested in him when he scored a goal against Crystal Palace in September with a chested half-volley. And at the club's end-of-season awards presentation, it was declared Aston Villa's Goal of the Season.
The nine-cap international has shown his desire in Chelsea openly by like several of the team's postings on his official X account. Furthermore, Jonathan Herrera, his agent, recently hinted that a transfer was still planned regardless of Mauricio Pochettino's departure.
Herrera stated last month that "the interest has always been there." "The club is ultimately the one who wants Pochettino, so it shouldn't
