Gareth Southgate decides at the last minute to bring a surprise Manchester United star to Euro 2024.

The 53-year-old Gareth Southgate selected Jordan Pickford, Aaron Ramsdale, and Dean Henderson as his three goalkeepers in his 26-man team for the Euros last week.

According to Sky Sports, Southgate decided at the last minute to include Heaton in the squad as a goalkeeper during training before England's Monday flight to Germany. The 38-year-old will play with the Three Lions squad for the entirety of the competition, his role being to support the team's three goalkeepers.

At Man United, Heaton is now the third-choice goalie due to his extensive experience. Southgate values the Englishman's playing experience at the highest level of English football, since he has also represented teams like Burnley and Aston Villa.

Since his previous appearance for Man United in a Carabao Cup match against Nottingham Forest back in February 2023, the 38-year-old has not played much recently.

Heaton, though, has acknowledged that he is thrilled to be able to support England in any manner and that he is looking forward to.

Tom Heaton of Manchester United is "proud" to be heading to the England squad for Euro 2024.

The seasoned goalie posted on his X account, saying, "I'm incredibly honored that Gareth asked me to join the squad." Receiving the invitation to attend a significant competition, offer assistance where I can, and share my knowledge is an honor. We have a fantastic squad, and I'm eager to get started.

Heaton should be proud to be playing for the Three Lions going into a significant tournament, even though he only managed to gain three caps with England during his playing career.
