Joshua Zirkzee: Manchester United and Bologna strike a transfer agreement for the forward

He is set to have a Man Utd medical this week, and the sum is said to be slightly above £35 million (€42.5 million), which is more than the £33.6 million (€40 million) release clause. However, this is in exchange for more advantageous payment conditions. Personal terms for a five-year deal have been agreed upon.

Joshua Zirkzee: Manchester United and Bologna strike a transfer agreement for the forward

Joshua Zirkzee, a forward for Bologna, has agreed to join Manchester United. The transfer fee is reportedly slightly over £35 million (€42.5 million), which is more than the £33.6 million (€40 million) release clause.

It indicates that United will make payments over a three-year period rather than in one single sum.

This week, Zirkzee is slated to undergo a medical exam before agreeing to a five-year deal with a one-year option.

This season, the 23-year-old helped Bologna qualify for the Champions League with 12 goals and 7 assists.

Why is Joshua Zirkzee in demand?

After completing the Bayern Munich system, Zirkzee spent time with Parma and Anderlecht before making his summer 2022 move to Bologna.

In his first season in Serie A, the attacker had little playing time and finished with just two league goals in 808 minutes.

He scored 11 goals in the league this term, and the shot map below indicates that his most potent shooting area is left-of-center.

Additionally, the heat map that follows demonstrates how the forward usually plays deeper than a traditional striker.

In Serie A, he is also ranked in the top five for creating large opportunities, trying dribbles, and recovering possession in the latter third of the game.
