Leicester City is expected to name former Manchester United interim head coach Ruud van Nistelrooy.
After just five months in charge, Leicester fired manager Steve Cooper on Monday, while Ruud van Nistelrooy went undefeated in his four games as Manchester United's temporary head coach.
It is anticipated that Ruud van Nistelrooy would accept Leicester City's offer to take over as manager and will be in charge of their Saturday matchup with Brentford.
Van Nistelrooy is said to be at his house in the Netherlands at the moment, although his appointment might be announced at any time.
According to Sky Sports News, Van Nistelrooy has been looking for ways to become a number one, and he has received several offers from different European teams.
Leicester has now determined that Van Nistelrooy is their top pick after considering former Wolfsburg and Bayern Munich manager Niko Kovac and current West Bromwich Albion manager Carlos Corberan as potential contenders.
Club owner Aiyawatt Shrivadhannaprabha, also known as "Top," made the choice and assumed personal responsibility for it. Jon Rudkin, the director of football, compiled a list of potential candidates.
After leaving his position as manager of PSV Eindhoven before the 2022–2023 season ended, Van Nistelrooy was hired as assistant manager at Manchester United in the summer.
After Erik ten Hag was fired in October, he took over as interim head coach. He defeated Leicester twice, 5-0 in the Carabao Cup and 3-0 in the Premier League, to remain undefeated in his four games in command before the club officially announced his departure after Ruben Amorim took over.
Why was Cooper fired by Leicester?
"The club feels that making this decision now gives them the best chance of remaining in the Premier League, even though they are currently in 16th place with 10 points from 12 games.
"The club's management believes they could be better than they are since they haven't defeated Everton or Ipswich, and their performances are becoming more and more of a worry.
"It is evident that Cooper has been attempting to put his preferred style into practice and make the adjustments he felt were required to make things better, but it was obvious that there was opposition from and a rift among the players.
According to reports, this has raised internal worries about Premier League safety. It's also clear that Cooper and the supporters haven't connected since he took control in the summer.
"After being promoted, Leicester lost a vital player in Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to Chelsea and spent less on summer transfers than the other two promoted teams.
"They brought in Bobby Decordova-Reid on a free transfer and two players on loan from other Premier League clubs, while their biggest expenditure was over £20 million on Oliver Skipp.
"The club have acted swiftly in comparison the 2022/23 season, in which they parted ways with Brendan Rodgers as late as April and replaced him with Dean Smith before ultimately being relegated."
