De Bruyne's goal against Wolves puts Man City in third place.

Kevin De Bruyne's goal gave Pep Guardiola's Man City a 1-0 victory over Vitor Pereira's dominant Wolves; Rayan Ait-Nouri and Matheus Cunha struck the post for Wolves, but City won five straight games across all competitions.

De Bruyne's goal against Wolves puts Man City in third place.

Manchester City defeated Wolves 1-0 at the Etihad Stadium thanks to a goal from Kevin De Bruyne, moving them up to third place in the Premier League standings.

Wolves had an ambitious start and came very close to scoring the first goal twice, demonstrating their confidence going into the match.  Rayan Ait-Nouri also struck the post after Jean-Ricner Bellegarde mishandled his pass to Marshall Munetsi with the goal open.

In his penultimate outing in front of the home crowd, De Bruyne punished the visitors for their carelessness as they sought a seventh consecutive victory.  Andre was deprived of possession.  It was opened by Jeremy Doku.  De Bruyne concluded.

In the second half, Matheus Cunha nearly equalised, but Ederson's post saved the goalie once more.  After that, City dominated much of it and won the Premier League for the fourth time in a row, strengthening their hold on a Champions League berth.

The game's MVP was Kevin De Bruyne.

At the final whistle, De Bruyne's name was sung with pride and loudness.  Man City is one step closer to playing in the Champions League next season with just one more game at the Etihad Stadium decided by the Belgian's right boot.

For that, De Bruyne won't be present.  Although he is not as powerful as he once was, this evidence suggests that he does not need to be in order to have an influence.  This stadium will now only host one more City visit.  He'll be hoping to win the FA Cup once more.

De Bruyne: I'm still capable of playing

"We found a way to win,"

"We may now unwind and see what the others do.  Despite a challenging season, we are starting to get into a rhythm that will help us win the games we need to.

"All I want to do is play as well as I can.  I strive to perform my duties as I always have, even though I know I only have one game left.  It has always been this way, and I am proud of what I am doing.

Many of my teammates have expressed their sadness at my departure, but sometimes that's just the way life works.  I think everyone should act and perform the way I do.

"Unfortunately, I have no idea [what the future holds]."  I've demonstrated that I can still play, because else I wouldn't have done what I have in the previous four or five weeks.

Pep Guardiola, the head coach of Manchester City, discussing Kevin De Bruyne at the news conference:

"We were at Crystal Palace, 2-0 down, and his goal lifted us, and the momentum came back," Pep Guardiola stated during the post-match news conference.

"He has made a significant contribution.  In the heart of the populace are players like Kevin, Vinny Kompany, and Sergio Aguero.  For all of us who have been here for ten years, it is more than simply the titles and the numbers; it is the contributions made in terms of love, passion, and affection.

"We needed him to help us to win absolutely everything, and he still is here."

In response to a question about whether De Bruyne is playing with a point to prove, Guardiola said, "He does not have to prove anything."

Vitor Pereira, head coach of Wolves, discussing his team's performance during the news conference:

In my opinion, the game was excellent both technically and tactically.  I observed the spirit I want to see in my team—a competitive mindset that strives to score at the final second.  There are times when we have to defend against a formidable team.

However, I am extremely proud of my players, squad, and supporters based only on the outcome.  I believe we score two goals if I ask to move the post a bit [wider] before the game.

"We can control our attitude, but we cannot control the outcome since it is impossible.  I'm pleased of us today because even if we lose a game, we won't lose our devotion or mindset."
