Liverpool's thrilling victory over Wolves puts them seven points ahead.
Liverpool's tense 2-1 victory over Wolves at Anfield put them seven points clear at the top of the Premier League standings.

Liverpool defeated Wolves 2-1 at Anfield to regain their seven-point advantage at the top of the Premier League standings.
Early in the match, Luis Diaz bundled the ball into the net, and when Mohamed Salah doubled Arne Slot's team's lead from the penalty spot just before halftime, it appeared that the Premier League leaders would have an easy afternoon.
It was a nerve-wracking end, though, as Matheus Cunha pulled one goal back with a stunning strike after Liverpool's second penalty was disallowed after a VAR assessment. But Wolves were unable to match Everton's equaliser against the league leaders on Wednesday.
Vitor Pereira's team must settle for a strong performance since they are still two points above the relegation zone. As Liverpool gets ready face Aston Villa on Wednesday night, the three points put their lead over Arsenal back to seven.
The anxious afternoon in Liverpool
James Tarkowski's late intervention at Goodison Park on Wednesday night saved Liverpool from taking a nine-point lead at the top of the Premier League table, but Liverpool started this game with a four-point lead over Arsenal.
Liverpool needed to reply with three points in this match before facing difficult travels to Aston Villa and Manchester City the following week after losing to Plymouth Argyle in the FA Cup and then to Everton in the Merseyside derby in such dramatic way in the middle of the week.
They were definitely aided by Wolves, who entered the match having won consecutive games without giving up. Diogo Jota, who made his first Premier League start since October against his old team, did some fine work on the opening goal, but it was sloppy.
Toti Gomes was only able to deflect Salah's weak touch into Diaz's path, where he beat the charging Jose Sa to the ball. Salah scored from the penalty spot to give Liverpool complete control after the Colombian did the same to earn the second penalty.
Cunha's elegant left-footed strike gave Wolves the goal their performance merited, although their desperate attempt to win was evident in the closing moments. Liverpool barely survived, and Andrew Robertson felt obliged to tell the Kop to remain composed in the closing moments.
Robertson: Everyone experiences anxiety.
Andrew Robertson, a defender for Liverpool:
"We simply succeeded in going deep. One of the riskiest outcomes in football is a two-nil score at halftime. We needed to make a strong first impression, but we fell short.
"Playing Wednesday must have worn some of the guys down because the second half was a struggle. However, it was about attempting to make use of our entire team and our experience on the pitch.
"The audience and everyone get anxious when they score, but it's a huge victory for us.
"In my opinion, Wolves played a fantastic second half. At halftime, trailing 2-0, they made a few adjustments and increased their offensive play by placing more forward players in strategic positions. It was more challenging because of that.
However, we need to improve our ball skills. We are aware of that. The outcome is significant; it's critical to resume a winning streak following Wednesday's FA Cup loss. I hope this is the beginning of one.
Slot: You must also win like this, says
Arne Slot, the manager of Liverpool:
"This one is just as huge as the others, but it's even bigger. We didn't have the best second half, so perhaps you're a little dissatisfied, I said in the dressing room. However, we fight to the very end. Ali blocked a free-kick in a favourable position and was crucial to our cause.
"But you also need to have victories like these when you're trying to accomplish something during a season. We defeated Spurs 4-0 two weeks ago, demonstrating excellent football play for the season. However, a season like this should also include victories like these.
"Creating nothing at all is never the strategy! Although we had a couple promising moments, one of them was disallowed for offside, and another was a penalty that VAR overruled. In the second half, we posed far too little of a goal threat.
"I'm glad to see that these players can do it as well if that's what it takes to win a game.
"After all that transpired in the previous game and the final eight minutes against Everton, you always wonder if it's due to mental exhaustion. We were put to the test psychologically today once more. We believed we had the third, and we believed we had the penalty for the third, both of which the referee handled perfectly. However, the subsequent 2-1 loss was a mental challenge. We did a great job on that. However, you may feel a little worn out if you are under stress.
"It was maybe the first time this season that players were more tired than they were in other games."
Pereira is annoyed by the call from Konate.
At halftime, Slot replaced Ibrahima Konate, perhaps concerned that the defender may be sent off. After a confrontation with Cunha in the first half, Konate managed to avoid receiving a second yellow card. Pereira acknowledged that he was annoyed with the choice.
When asked, "Yes of course," he replied. "If there were a second yellow card, a red card, and one player was eliminated, the game might be different. I'm not a referee, though. I'm not here to make a decision. Ultimately, though, I'm quite pleased and proud of my second-half players.
"We can't play the way we did in the first half again. It is about my team, regardless of whether it is against Liverpool or another team. Instead of coming here and turning it into a party, I want to see the individuality, personality, and bravery to play our way. The next time, we must acknowledge and believe in our own quality.
"I remember Liverpool having a lot of issues and struggles to stop us, but the second half was amazing. It was a fair outcome if we scored the second goal.
