Man City loses against PSG to leave the CL knockout stages.

After a spectacular comeback victory, Paris Saint-Germain defeated Manchester City 4-2, sending Pep Guardiola's team crashing out of the Champions League knockout stages.

Ahead of their final league-phase match against Club Brugge on January 29, City is now two points behind 24th-place Stuttgart and their European status is in jeopardy.

Jack Grealish and Erling Haaland's goals in the second half appeared to have placed Guardiola's team ahead, but they once again lost at the Parc des Princes as their defensive flaws were taken advantage of.

Four goals were scored in eleven minutes of intense action, with Ousmane Dembele and Bradley Barcola tying the score for the home team. Joao Neves then completed the comeback by racing onto a cross at the back post to give his team a late lead.

To make matters worse, Goncalo Ramos added a fourth goal in stoppage time.

This hardly recognised City team is now 21 points away from winning places and has a daunting task simply to get to the play-off stages. It is imperative that they defeat their future Belgian opponents.

Guardiola: The best squad prevailed

"They had their moments in the first half. They were superior, but we had one or two.

"They score five minutes after we do, and we score five minutes after that. They believed at that very instant. They were superior. faster and faster.

"We have one final chance against [Club] Brugge at home after the greatest team won. It might occur. We don't deserve to win if we don't. We have to acknowledge the fact that we did not receive enough points.

Grealish: Too many leads are being lost.

Jack Grealish, a forward for Man City, told TNT Sport:

"We are usually really good during these times. Going ahead by one, two, or three goals and failing to finish has happened far too frequently this season. We have managed the games so well in every other season.

"I'm not sure whether it's a confidence issue. To change that going forward and win that game [against Club Brugge] next week, it is up to us.

"This kind of game has happened to us in the last season. games with a lot of pressure, and we will require that. We are excellent at home, so it is up to us."

When the lights are at their brightest, the city cowers.

The outcome hasn't surprised me after seeing that first-half performance. However, the way it got here is concerning for this city side.

Squandering a three-goal lead against Feyenoord and losing to Juventus, Sporting, and now PSG are not just bad performances. When the lights are blazing brightest in Europe's top competition, they are total surrenders.

The most obvious sign that City has to press the reset button came the same week that Vitor Reis and Abdukodir Khusanov, a promising young team, arrived to the Etihad Stadium for a combined sum of over £60 million.

They are not the team we have become used to seeing over the years, and as Guardiola rightly noted, if they do not advance to the Champions League knockout stages, it is because they do not deserve to be there.

The curse of Man City is becoming worse.

Ederson's passing accuracy was only 63.16 percent, and he surprisingly lost possession 14 times.

For the past two and a half years, these measures represent his poorest game return.

During the second half, he made several awful decisions that really made things worse. The Manchester City curse has affected him as well, albeit not to the same extent as in past years.
