Manchester United 0-3 Liverpool: Arne Slot puts a lot of pressure on Erik ten Hag as Luis Diaz scores twice off of mistakes made by Casemiro.

At Old Trafford, Liverpool defeated a depressing Manchester United 3-0 in the Premier League thanks to two goals from Luis Diaz.

Before Mohamed Salah made it three early in the second half, the Colombian took advantage of two mistakes made by Casemiro in the first half.

The victory keeps Liverpool's unbeaten start to the season intact and puts further pressure on Erik ten Hag, whose team has dropped its last two games.

'Not Harry Potter,' says Ten Hag
Ten Hag stated at the news conference that he does not anticipate Manuel Ugarte being completely up to speed for several weeks or possibly even months. "It needs time to complete. I am not Harry Potter, that's for sure."

How Manchester United lost to Liverpool

Although United started the game with some purpose, their attempts were chaotic, and Liverpool controlled the most of the play in a crazy environment. Trent Alexander-Arnold thought he had opened the score, but VAR disqualified it. This gave rise to a warning, though it was only temporary.

The pivotal moment occurred when Ryan Gravenberch, who is incredibly talented, grabbed hold of Casemiro's wayward pass. With his first of two assists, he set up Salah, whose cross found Diaz at the far post.

From then on, Casemiro's afternoon only got worse as Salah again found Diaz to fire low past Andre Onana for the second goal, dispossessed once more.

Ten Hag could not afford to lose this match, according to Gary Neville, so one can only speculate about his thoughts on the Brazilian midfielder's performance while Manuel Ugarte, Paris Saint-Germain's latest addition, watched from the stands.

At halftime, Casemiro was replaced by 20-year-old Toby Collyer, who was only able to push Kobbie Mainoo into a deeper role. Alexis Mac Allister had robbed him, Dominik Szoboszlai had located Salah, and it was three. That appeared to destroy United.

After then, anything might have happened, as Salah came dangerously near twice in a matter of minutes. Another 32-year-old player, Casemiro, appeared to have lost the quality that had defined him, but Salah shown that improvement and adaptation were possible. He was quite good.

Slot's team had established their point, even though the fourth goal that would have given Liverpool the lead over Manchester City never materialised. Their coach, Dutch, has adapted quite rapidly. If there is going to be a repeat, his United teammate will need to find answers swiftly.

Is Salah's final match at Old Trafford?

Salah made reference to the fact that his Liverpool contract expires at the end of the current campaign when he remarked, "As you know, it is my last year in the club," in an interview after the game. Later on, he tried to make things clearer.

"I mentioned before the game that this might be the last time. Since no one at the club has discussed contracts with me, I'm just going to play my final season and see what happens at the end of it.

"It's not my decision, but no one from the club has contacted me. We'll see.

Manager of Liverpool, Arne Slot:

"When United got going, they were incredibly aggressive, and we had to find our identity during that time. However, going to Old Trafford guarantees some difficult times. We managed to get through that on our own.

"I thought it was good that we continued to play the same manner we had previously after scoring a fantastic goal that was called back.

"In the end, we scored some nice goals and we needed Alisson in the second half to make some important saves but it was a deserved win."

He said later in the news conference, "Everything you want to see as a manager, you saw in this game."

Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United,

All three goals were errors.

"We made mistakes, but they finished extremely clinically and performed admirably.

"We made individual blunders that led to all three of the goals. Regarding the final one, you could argue, 'Where is our double six?' But Liverpool performed brilliantly against the rest. After Arne took control, they finished so well and with a great turnover.

"Don't dispute this [that the goals didn't affect the game's level of play]. Liverpool certainly deserved it. We must remain modest, learn from this, and raise our game."

Ten Hag continued, speaking about Casemiro's performance, saying, "You know the game. He is familiar with the game. He and I shall both continue. He is a superb athlete. This season, we'll keep working to develop the players and the team.

"He became better and repeatedly shown his excellent nature. He has demonstrated greatness in the midfield, as we have all witnessed. He'll prove it again, and I have no doubt that he'll recover."
