Matheus Cunha makes a huge hint about a move to Manchester United as a key Wolves decision is "confirmed."
Matheus Cunha gave a major indication about leaving Wolves in the most recent Manchester United transfer report.
Associated with Manchester United Matheus Cunha has made it clear that he wants to leave Wolves and transfer to Old Trafford. The Brazil international has been linked to a high-profile move to United in recent months after having an incredible start to the 2024–2025 season.
Despite Wolves' severe struggles, Cunha has made 16 Premier League games, tallying eight goals and three assists. Gary O'Neil was fired as Wolves' head coach after the 25-year-old snapped a brief goal drought against Ipswich this past weekend. Wolves lost by a goal in the last seconds.
Video showing Cunha getting significantly involved in a post-match altercation that seemed to show him elbowing an Ipswich employee before stealing his glasses surfaced after that decision. Since then, the FA has released a statement stating that he has been accused of misbehaviour and may face a lengthy ban as a result.
Following those instances, Wolves have dominated the news in recent days, and it appears that the search for O'Neil's replacement is already over. Vitor Pereira, the head coach of Al-Shabab, has agreed to take over at Wolves, and his hiring is anticipated to be confirmed soon.
O'Neil and Cunha had a close relationship, and it's unclear if he'll want to stay at Molineux. Due to his impressive play and the possibility that he would fit in well with Amorim's 3-4-3 style, whispers of a United transfer have surfaced, and the player has been escalating them on social media.
Earlier this month, Cunha posted on Instagram to commemorate winning Wolves' Player of the Month award for November. It has subsequently been revealed that he liked a comment that read, "Manchester United soon [soon emoji]."
There is a chance of a January switch. His probable retroactive suspension, though, would deter United from considering a winter transfer. Although the conclusion of the FA inquiry into Cunha is still unknown, he might miss a substantial amount of time, which would also prevent Amorim from seeing him up close when United plays Wolves on Boxing Day.
