Real Madrid falters once more as AC Milan wins the Champions League with a commanding victory.

Real Madrid's difficult start to the season has continued when Carlo Ancelotti's team lost to AC Milan 3-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu, their second defeat in four Champions League games. The Italian coach's reunion with his old team was not a pleasant one.

Malick Thiaw's head thundered home Christian Pulisic's corner to give Milan the lead in the Spanish capital within 12 minutes. The visitors got off to a fantastic start, but Real Madrid quickly responded with a penalty kick from Vinicius Junior, who also won the spot-kick when Emerson Royal fouled him.

But Alvaro Morata's goal against his old team would put Milan ahead at halftime. Andriy Lunin parried Rafael Leao's first attempt, allowing the Spanish attacker to score with ease.

Milan's 3-1 lead at the 73rd minute made things even better. Leao was once more at the centre of the action as his sprinting run resulted in a cross to Tijjani Reijnders, who had plenty of room inside the Real Madrid penalty area and shot past Lunin.

Late in the game, Antonio Rudiger did score, but VAR disallowed it for offside. After their miserable 4-0 loss in the El Clasico, Real Madrid was unable to achieve anything more, meaning that Ancelotti's team would also suffer back-to-back losses.
