Ten Hag knows about Tuchel's talks: "Man Utd concluded they had the best coach"
Erik ten Hag has said in the open that he is aware that Manchester United and other managers, including Thomas Tuchel, had discussions.
Ten Hag made an appearance as a commentator on Dutch television prior to England's opening Euro 2024 match against Serbia. Ten Hag learned this week that he will stay United's manager for the 2024–2025 season and is currently preparing to sign a new contract.
The 54-year-old stated, "Everyone has heard that they have spoken to several candidates," in an interview with broadcaster NPO. It is not a secret.
"That's not done in the Netherlands. If there is a trainer on staff, you are not even permitted to speak with members of another club. However, the laws and regulations in England are different.
"In the end, they came to the conclusion that they have the best trainer."
After a post-season evaluation, INEOS decided that Ten Hag was the ideal man to take the club forward. At the time, Ten Hag was on vacation in Ibiza.
"As in any organisation, there is an evaluation and that seems very sensible to me," Ten Hag stated.
"We had a great conversation covering a range of subjects. We will prolong the contract, but we still need to come to a consensus, according to one of the conclusions."
