Tottenham could face a batle to keep Cristian Romero this summer with interest from Real Madrid,

Real Madrid is reportedly interested in signing Cristian Romero, and Tottenham may have competition in retaining him this summer. Romero was born in Argentina.

Romero is reportedly Real Madrid's transfer target as they look to bolster their defence. The Champions League winners are reportedly considering Real Madrid.

With three years remaining on his current deal and having signed for £42.5 million in 2021, Romero is a player that Spurs do not want to lose and would expect a hefty amount for.

It's unclear if Real Madrid will be able to afford a high-profile centre back acquisition during the same summer that they lavished money on Kylian Mbappe and set aside money to recruit Alphonso Davies, a left back for Bayern Munich.

Romero has developed into a crucial member of the Spurs team and is essential to their style of play under Ange Postecoglou, who named him one of his vice captains in the summer and stated that he is essential to his ambitions.

The 26-year-old has established a strong center-back partnership with Micky van de Ven and has been one of Spurs' most reliable players this year.

"He's a World Cup winner and I've just got to get some of what's in him into some of the others," Postecoglou said in April, urging the rest of his team to emulate Romero.
