Borussia Dortmund's head coach Edin Terzic has left he club.
After a "violent confrontation" with star defender Mats Hummels before the Champions League final, Borussia Dortmund head Edin Terzic resigned from the team, according to reports.
Despite the team making it to the Champions League final this season, Terzic reportedly tendered his resignation on Wednesday night, according to Sky in Germany.
On Thursday morning, Terzic had a meeting with the upper management of Borussia. Sky in Germany reports that he departed the meeting less than an hour ago through a rear entry at the club headquarters.
"I am parting ways with Borussia Dortmund today, and it hurts me so much to say this to all of the Black & Yellow supporters," he stated.
"It was an enormous honour to lead this incredible club to the Champions League final and to win the DFB Cup with BVB."
"I feel that the club's new era should begin with a new man on the touchline after ten years at BVB - including five on the coaching staff and two and a half as head coach - so after the game at Wembley, I called for a meeting with the club's top management team.
"After extensive discussions, my core feeling has not changed, even though everyone close to me knows that this has been an extremely difficult decision for me to make over the last few weeks. We won't be saying goodbye; I want Borussia Dortmund all the best. See you soon!
Terzic managed Dortmund twice, first as an interim manager at the conclusion of the 2020–21 campaign and again as a permanent manager ahead of the 2022-2023 season.
