Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher argue after 'insulting' Trent Alexander-Arnold Liverpool.

Roy Keane was not impressed by Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold in the first half of the Reds' Premier League game against Manchester United.

This season, Alexander-Arnold has shown promise, and Real Madrid is still considering a move. After scoring in the 5-0 victory over West Ham in late December, the England star received special appreciation from Arne Slot. However, he was exposed at Anfield on Sunday.

Attacks down the right-back's flank gave United two of their best early opportunities. Initially, Diogo Dalot was behind, but Amad's pass put him ahead of the ball.

Just before the half, Rasmus Hojlund had another great chance, but he was unable to beat Alisson after finding space. At halftime, Keane was in the Sky Sports studio, and his evaluation was straightforward.

"Defensively, Trent Alexander-Arnold has been everywhere," the analyst and former United captain stated. "He has been using schoolboy tactics to defend himself. He must perform better.

"His transfer to Real Madrid is being discussed. He's heading to Tranmere Rovers after tonight, based on his defensive style," he continued. "He's got to do better."

Tranmere, Liverpool's close rivals, is currently seven points ahead of Carlisle, the worst team in League Two. "Trent to Tranmere, Roy?" was the EFL team's social media response after right wing-back Cameron Norman scored the game-winning goal against Carlisle in their most recent match. No, we're fine, thank you."

In addition to struggling for United's first goal, Alexander-Arnold gave lost possession of the ball as Lisandro Martinez scored as the centre-back went forward down the left. Liverpool manager Arne Slot praised the player for the memorable performance, but he insisted he can still work on certain aspects of his game.

Before Sunday's match, Slot stated, "There isn't much room for improvement anymore because these players are at the top of the world, but there's always a little improvement." "I think Trent has improved this season, particularly on defence.

"I believe he was excellent in every aspect of some games, but there have also been some ups and downs, and in other games he could have performed a little better. For top performers, consistency is key, and Trent may have made the most progress in that area.

Alexander-Arnold's performance in the last match against West Ham was also commended by Slot. "Everybody saw how great of a first half of a season he's had, how much he is here, how much he wants to win here," he said.

"Against West Ham, he had a fantastic game. I believe we all recall the pass he made to Mo, which I believe was in the first half. Every day, I witness him working his [backside] off on the training pitch. If they don't inform me he's sick, which I don't expect them to, he will play on Sunday because he is totally dedicated to us."
