Marcus Rashford's contract with Manchester United is being finalised by Aston Villa.
Aston Villa is finalising Marcus Rashford's contract with Manchester United.
At least 75% of Rashford's salary will be paid by Villa, and depending on how well both Rashford and Villa perform, this amount might reach 90%.
Both Antony's loan to Real Betis this window and Jadon Sancho's loan to Borussia Dortmund last season had comparable arrangements at United.
It is believed that Villa took this action in response to Jhon Duran's trade to Al Nassr.
According to Villa's head of football operations Monchi, Unai Emery's team is also interested in Chelsea's Joao Felix and Paris Saint-Germain's Marcos Asensio.
After Villa's Saturday 2-0 loss to Wolves, Emery stated that his team is still working on "different players" throughout the transfer window.
"It is difficult to sign a single striker. We have a few players. Watkins is typically reliable, playing games, recuperating well, and playing two or three straight games. However, he was hurt (against Wolves). I hope it's not too big.
"The plan is to replace Jhon Duran with a striker or another player who can assist us at the level we desire. If not, Donyell Malen and other versatile players could be useful.
Emery continued, in response to a particular question about Rashford links: "We will know on Monday how we have finished."
The tumultuous Rashford January
Rashford last played for his boyhood club in the Europa League trip to Viktoria Plzen seven weeks ago, and he is still unsigned ahead of Monday's 11 p.m. deadline.
Due in large part to his salary, few clubs provide an apparent landing site, despite the England international's declaration in December that he was "ready for a new challenge."
Rashford trained with his teammates the night before the game, but he was not included in United's 21-man roster for Thursday's Europa League victory over FCSB.
Following last weekend's 1-0 victory against Fulham, Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim indicated that he would prefer to have United's 63-year-old goalkeeping instructor in his squad at the moment rather than Rashford.
This week, there were rumours that Rashford and Amorim were no longer on good terms.
Amorim has given Rashford the opportunity to battle his way back into the first squad, stating that although United is "a better team with Rashford," he "has to change" before he can make a comeback.
"Only two viable proposals"
This transfer window saw a lot of interest in Marcus Rashford, but only two serious offers were made: one from Aston Villa and the other from an unidentified Premier League team.
The other options required United to pay a significant amount of Rashford's salary, something they were unwilling to do because the player had expressed a desire to depart.
A move to Villa will fulfil Rashford's desire to play Champions League football, even if he had previously preferred to join Barcelona this transfer season.
Rashford's departure is a prerequisite for Man Utd's Tel move.
After they have reached an agreement for Rashford to leave Old Trafford, Manchester United may make a move for Mathys Tel of Bayern Munich.
Bayern has been informed of United's interest in acquiring Tel on loan. The team is considering a variety of targets, including him.
During this window, United has always been forced to allow a departure before bringing anyone in.
After turning down the opportunity to join Tottenham Hotspur, Tel is reportedly amenable to the transfer.
United is aware that Tel is being pursued by other Premier League and European teams.
