Trent booed as Arsenal rallied from a two-goal deficit to draw against Liverpool.

On an odd but captivating afternoon at Anfield, Arsenal rallied from a two-goal deficit to end with ten players in a 2-2 draw with champions Liverpool.

Cody Gakpo nodded the opening goal from close range, and Luis Diaz slid in to increase the lead. However, headers from Gabriel Martinelli and Mikel Merino changed the tone after the interval. Arne Slot's team took control with two goals in 87 first-half seconds.

Infuriated by his choice to leave in the summer, Liverpool fans in the Kop loudly jeered Trent Alexander-Arnold's arrival while still leading. It appeared to be a diversion as Arne Slot's team lost the game.

Alexander-Arnold, of all persons, came very close to identifying the winner when Merino's red card changed the course once more.  There was even the drama of Andy Robertson's goal being disallowed in stoppage time after Ibrahima Konate's foul.

Because of the draw, Liverpool will not be able to reach 90 points this season, while Arsenal will remain in second place and get closer to finishing in the top five.
