INEOS Plan: Man United's ideal midfield with the £50 million acquisition of Manuel Ugarte
Manuel Ugarte, a midfielder for Paris Saint-Germain, is apparently of interest to Manchester United.
Manuel Ugarte, a midfielder for Paris Saint-Germain, is the most recent player to be linked to a move to Manchester United.
A year after moving to the French city, the Uruguayan midfielder is reportedly of interest to United, according to a Tuesday report from Sky Sports. According to the site, the Reds have made a preliminary offer for the 23-year-old as they monitor possible midfield targets; however, no formal bids have been made as internal deliberations are still underway.
Meanwhile, L'Équipe has stated that a bid for the 23-year-old has been turned down.
It is understood by Livesports808 that Erik ten Hag's team has identified midfield as one of its areas for growth. Furthermore, the i claims that if PSG decides to sell this summer, they hope to recover more money than the €60 million (£50 million) they paid Sporting CP for his services the previous year.
This summer, United has already shown interest in Jarrad Branthwaite of Everton. Their approach for the former England international was turned down, and they have established connections with Joshua Zirkzee of Bologna farther up the field.
As the June 30 deadline for Profit and Sustainability draws near, Premier League teams have been making headlines for their early transfer activity. According to insiders who spoke with Livesports808, the club has handled its funds to guarantee compliance and doesn't expect any hurried outgoings this week.
As the team approaches its third year, Ten Hag has trimmed and rotated his midfield options. Throughout the Dutchman's tenure at Old Trafford, Scott McTominay has demonstrated his value with significant performances, while Bruno Fernandes has emerged as a terrific addition to the team.
Despite his high profile, Casemiro's performances have declined, and he received negative feedback for his work this term. Ten Hag had previously had Sofyan Amrabat as an option, but it doesn't appear that his loan transfer will turn into a long-term agreement. Ugarte's potential arrival and United's intention to add a midfield target change the team's outlook as they prepare for a new season in which they will try to exact revenge for their poorest Premier League showing since 1990.
With Alejandro Garnacho supporting him, Captain Fernandes has shown himself to be a potent offensive midfield option for United in a 4-2-3-1 configuration. Kobbie Mainoo's rise has also taken some of the strain off of the Portuguese midfielder.
Protective midfielder by nature, Ugarte would be a great complement to Mainoo or McTominay at the base of the midfield. During the previous season, United lost 20 opportunities to teams like Liverpool, Crystal Palace, and Bournemouth, to mention a few, and were too often exposed on the counterattack by their imbalanced midfielder.
It's possible that United will sell a few of its bench players to help pay for a defender, a midfielder, and a striker. Ugarte would be a valuable addition to the midfield and the best way to fulfill one of the goals of future building: acquiring a bright prospect with a ton of potential.
Bringing in the Uruguayan would assist the midfield develop and, in doing so, might provide a fresh perspective that would enable the realization of the dream Mainoo, Ugarte, Marcus Rashford, Fernandes, and Garnacho midfield.
