Marcus Rashford rejoins Thomas Tuchel's England team.

Thomas Tuchel announced his first England team as head coach for the World Cup Qualifiers in March, recalling Marcus Rashford.

England's first World Cup 2026 qualifying matches are against Albania and Latvia at Wembley.

Although Rashford was cut by new Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim in December, he has had outstanding play since going on loan to Aston Villa in January.

Having last played for the Three Lions in March of last year as a substitute against Brazil at Wembley, he has been rewarded with a return to the England lineup.

Jordan Henderson is also making a surprise comeback to the team.  The midfielder for Ajax last played against Malta in November 2023.

Adam Wharton and Conor Gallagher, who scored against Real Madrid in the Champions League midweek, have been disregarded.

Kyle Walker has been named as well.  In January, the full-back left Manchester City and the Premier League to join AC Milan.

Myles Lewis-Skelly receives his first senior call-up in another location.  Although he played for England at lower junior levels, the Arsenal midfielder, who can also play left-back, never received a U21 cap.

Dan Burn, a defender for Newcastle who has never played for England at any level, has also been included, and Morgan Rogers of Aston Villa, who made his senior debut in November, has been picked again.

Only Harry Kane and Dominic Solanke, two established strikers, are part of Tuchel's 26-man roster.

Ollie Watkins, a forward for Aston Villa, has no place.

Injuries have also kept some players out, including Bukayo Saka, Lewis Hall, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Harry Maguire.

Howe: Burn is the most deserved person.

Eddie Howe, head coach of Newcastle, on Dan Burn's call-up:

Amazing moment for Dan.  Nobody is more deserving.  He is a gifted musician and a truly inspirational person.

"He's made a true football comeback, but he did it the hard way.  He is so dedicated to his work that he is the model pro.

"He has made great strides in many aspects of his game, and his height and size make him an excellent weapon on a football pitch.  I'm quite happy for him because his character is so level and stable."

Tuchel: Choosing Henderson was simple.

Despite the fact that Henderson hasn't played for England since 2023 against Malta, Tuchel has stated that the selection was "easy" given the leadership and attributes that a "serial winner" like the Ajax captain provides to the team.

"With Jordan, it's a pretty easy one," Tuchel stated during his press tour.  "He has played a lot of games, is currently captain of Ajax, and is a serial winner.

"He adds leadership, character, charisma, and vitality to any squad.  He ensures that everyone complies with the rules.

He personifies what we're attempting to create with this quality.

"We want to create a team that our supporters can relate to, are proud of, and will hopefully be entertaining to watch.

"Jordan embodies everything we want from this team."

Tuchel is hopeful that Rashford can continue Villa's progress.
Another move that caused a stir was Rashford's inclusion for the first time in a year.

Although the attacker hasn't scored since moving to Villa on loan from Manchester United in January, he has contributed four assists in his first nine games, and Tuchel is eager for Rashford to continue his recent success with England.

"It's a familiar face back in the team with Marcus, but it's a different situation [for Henderson]," he added.

"I thought Marcus made a significant contribution to Aston Villa.  Mostly from the bench, he has had a significant and remarkable impact.

"His work rate, defensive impact, hard work in counter-pressing, and tracking back in his position were all outstanding, but the physical effect was what really stood out.

"I really believed that we ought to nominate him and bring him in to encourage him to maintain that level and avoid reverting to his previous habits.

"This camp is to bond with him and push him to stay on that level."
